Manchester Borstal, Manchester, Lancashire

In 1958, part of the women's hospital at Strangeways Prison, on Southall Street, Manchester, was converted for use as Borstal Institution for girls with babies.

The unit closed in 1962 following the opening of the new purpose-built Bullwood Hall Borstal in Essex.
