Portsmouth Borstal, Portsmouth, Hampshire
In 1948, a Borstal Institution was established at the Kingston Prison site, on Milton Road, Portsmouth. It acted as a Recall Centre for borstal detainees who had broken their release licence conditions.
The establishment closed in January 1969 and its inmates, together with those from the Recall Centre at Reading, were transferred to a new purpose-built institution at Onley in Northamptonshire.
